SPÒRS TO ANNOUNCE NEW INITIATIVE FOR SHINTY FANS WORLD WIDE

A major new initiative which will allow Shinty fans around the world to follow action from the sport is due to be announced on this week’s Spòrs. The programme, which is transmitted on BBC TWO on Thursday evening, will announce details of how shinty fans can view action from all of the shinty games focused on in the series by visiting the Media nan Eilean website: mnetelevision.com Also on this weeks Spòrs will be the live draw in the studio for the second round of the Camanachd Cup, as well as extended highlights of last Saturdays first round clash between Inverness and Skye.
Fast becoming the “must watch” sports programme in Scotland, Spòrs offers television viewers a new style of news driven sports programming with a unique blend of international, national and local sports.
This week Spòrs will report from the Western Isles from the final of the Acres Boys Club Cup. Tennis fans can tune in to for a preview of the Scottish Tennis Championship, with a feature on the emerging talent in the sport, as well as an interview with Scottish Tennis ace Andrew Murray.
Chief Sports Correspondent Alex O’ Henley travels to Barcelona for an exclusive interview with international football legend Henrik Larsson. The footballer, whose phenomenal career with Celtic enshrined him as a hero to millions of Hoops fans, speaks to Spòrs in his native Swedish about what the future holds for him having played his last game for Barcelona this week.
Derek Murray profiles the Captain of the Scotland Women’s International Football Team, Julie Fleeting. A qualified teacher, twenty six year old Fleeting is Scotland’s top goal scorer with 93 goals and also the first Scottish player to make the step up to playing in the WUSA league in the USA. Julie is a regular goal scorer with Arsenal in the English Premier League, helping them get to the semi-finals of the 4th UEFA Women's Cup. She also managed to score a hat-trick to secure a FA Cup final win for Arsenal last year, the day after playing in an International match against Germany.
