The next part of the Beolach music series will be broadcast on Thursday 25th November on BBC 2 Scotland.
Beolach features some of Scotland's finest musicians representing The National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music at Plockton, Feisean nan Gaidheal and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow.
A series of preparatory weekend workshops, which were filmed for the series, were held where the students worked on performances with Jack Evans and Ingrid Henderson musical directors for the series along with a variety of tutors.
These musical performances were recorded in the Skye Gathering Hall in Portree in the Isle of Skye. The items involved performances by each separate organisation, collaborative presentations and contributions involving highly regarded professional guest musicians.
This week's programme features music from students representing The National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music at Plockton.
Dougie Pincock, Director of The National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music at Plockton talks about the aims of the school and how they work closely with Plockton High School. Dougie also explains the importance of getting their students into as much contact as possible with some of the best professionals musicians around.
Jack Evans one of the Musical Directors of Beolach explains that the standards expected from the students are very high but that it prepares them well for the real world.
Willma Kennedy explains how she tries to make songs more appealing to today's young musicians.
Students Colin Masterton, Norrie MacIver and Fiona MacAskill speak about student life in Plockton and also about what they hope the future holds for them.
Beolach is one of four programmes short listed for a media award at the Scots Trad Music Awards. The aim of the awards is to celebrate Scotland's rich musical heritage.
